Michael J. Wittmer, DC is a 1980 graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic. In 1974, he began competing in Olympic style weightlifting in the old United States Amateur Athletic Union. Competing in the 110kg class, with best lifts of a 150kg snatch and a 185kg C&J, Dr. Wittmer lifted in the 1980 Olympic Trials. After competing for fifteen years, he continued training and coaching other weightlifters.
He served on USAWeightlifting's Board of Directors from 2009-2012, as a national referee and as a USAW Certified Coach.
Upon graduating in 1980, he immediately opened a private practice in the St. Louis area. In his over thirty-five years as a practicing Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Wittmer has worked with national and international level weightlifters, powerlifters, bodybuilders, other athletes who use weight training to improve in their chosen sport, as well as those simply interested in weight training and weightlifting for fun and fitness.
His son Jeff, began training shortly after his 11th birthday and lifted in his first meet six months later. Jeff is a three time Schoolage National, three time Junior National, three time Collegiate National and two time Senior National Champion who represented the United States at Junior World, Junior PanAm, World University, Senior World, and PanAm Championships and the PanAm Games. Lifting in the 94kg weight class, Jeff's best lifts are 166kg in the snatch and 200 in the C&J.
